Feedback on your writing

What should you do when you ask someone to proof-read your work and instead they try to do a complete rewrite? On the one hand, it is certainly more work, and so a pretty generous thing to do with their time and energy. On the other hand, it is presumptuous and if you care for your own style more, a waste of time and effort.

Comments

I think that sometimes when I read other people's drafts, its hard to offer comments without biasing to a certain writing style (my own)... think offering suggestions that don't include significant "style" revisions is hard... bad writing form is certainly a style choice to some, but think you can just ignore the comments you don't like and assume the person doesn't mind the wasted thought :o)
