Someone at the Pentagon has been reading David Gerrold

This article, The Hunt for the Kill Switch, discusses the American military's feverish hunt for possible back doors into microchips used in American military products. They are concerned that during an attack someone would broadcast some sort of powerful signal that would interact with a chip designed by a saboteur, probably in another country to disable the attack. That's a very real fear, but actually I'm surprised it took them so long.

In the science fiction book A Matter For Men by David Gerrold, America uses this exact trick against her enemies, a group of 3rd world countries who attack the southern US. That book is almost 20 years old.
