Maybe it is just a dumb West Wing ripoff
Commander in Chief is a show about an accidental first female US president. Is this warming us up for the Hilary Clinton Presidency?

Life imitates Art imitates life. CiC was probably pitched as being able to play on people thinking about Hilary. If Hilary runs it will have definitely plowed a bit of road for her. No giant media conspiracy needed.
That said I don't think Hilary has a chance of winning the actual election. (sadly being a woman will probably still act as a detriment, and the Dems already have an uphill battle). It makes me weep when I think about how one party this country has become.
