Eschatonomics -- The economics of the end of the world.

The first in a series of articles of how to profit from the world's impending doom.

Many believe that global warming will shut down the heat pump known as the Gulf Stream leaving much of Northern Europe uninhabitable, flooding the world's costal areas and rendering the equatorial region a Sahelian hell. There is nothing you can do. Not even voting for Kerry will help.

So why not make a few bucks so that when the oil runs out you can afford an air-conditioned house on a higher elevation?

Here is how. Invest in tracks of land at high elevations at latitudes that are currently cold. Having seen estimates of 1-meter rises within the next hundred years, you do not need to be too much higher then sea level to protect your investment. The real money is in the temperature rise. With average global temperatures increasing by 10 degrees, Halifax Nova Scotia will be as warm as New York City. The area around Halifax is far cheaper and undeveloped. When the [North West Passage] opens up as the caps melt, the deep ports of Halifax are well positioned to become the Hong Kong of a hotter, wetter world.

Have a comfortable end of days
